Over the past couple of weeks, we have been spending our Math classes reviewing some important concepts from Grade 1 and Grade 2.
We began by reviewing odd and even numbers. We watched two Math stories on the Smartboard, "One Odd Day" and "My Even Day", and then followed up by playing a game and working independently.
The next concept we reviewed is one of our Mental Math strategies, Count On. This strategy is used when adding a 1, 2, or 3 to any number. To practice this strategy we played two different Math games. Count On Bump and Count On Colours.
We have also been reviewing our number concepts and place value to 100. We used place value dice to build numbers to 100 and then we examined a number line. We placed some key points on our line, then placed numbers where we thought they would go. We were all pretty good at this. This activity will be used as a basis for the beginning of our investigations into numbers past 100. Our next step is to expand our number line from 0-1000, using our first number line to help us.
