Yesterday was an exciting day in Room 20. A new student from Korea joined our classroom and our report cards went home. Between the two, it made for a lot going on.
We also spent some time yesterday continuing to learn the continents and oceans. This week we began a new Theme Studies focus, learning the continents and oceans. We've watched a few quick videos and worked with some activities on the Smartboard. Yesterday we did two activities to enhance our learning.
The first activity was putting together a continents puzzle with our table group. Each group received a puzzle that was focused on the seven continents. Students had to work together to complete it.
The finished puzzle.
We then worked with a partner to complete a QR code scavenger hunt using clues about the location of the continents and oceans. Students recorded their answers on a recording sheet, and after we did the scavenger hunt together to make sure we all had the right answer. Some of the clues were quite tricky, so students found that using a map to help them solve them was helpful.
