To finish our investigations into "Forces that Attract and Repel", we are looking at static electricity, specifically lightning and how to stay safe during a thunderstorm. This morning we came up with a list of what we already know about lightening.
Ashlee-You can see white in the sky.
Leland-Flashes in the sky.
Cameron-It's dangerous. It can kill you.
Shylo-It's electric.
Julia-Lightening is caused by static electricity.
Jayda-It can poof out your hair.
Garrick-You see electricity in the sky.
Faith-Lightening sometimes hits the ground.
Nicholas-Lightning can hit people's houses.
Kiera-It's white and yellow.
Kyla-It can electrocute you and you can die.
Anique-It can hit your arm and burn your skin.
And as we begin our week, here are some quick reminders...
1) Report Cards go home on Wednesday. Please return your son or daughter's envelope and comment form.
2) Student Led Conferences are Thursday evening and Friday morning. A conference sign-up form went home on Friday. Please indicate your first and second time preferences and return the form the school. I'll return the form to you indicating your conference time.
3) We are running very low on kleenex! If you could please send a box to school, we would appreciate it!
4) A friendly reminder about water bottles...water is the only drink permitted in the classroom during class time. Kool Aid jammers, juice boxes, sports drinks, etc. are fine for recess and lunch, but they should not be drank during class time. In addition, water bottles are just that, water bottles. Please remind your son or daughter not to use these as toys.
